The Use of Space and Technology


NASA is one of the most advanced organizations for the technology launched in space. Digital technology has changed the space program and it starts with the space ship, building a new space ship can take up to 4 to 10 years depending on the complexity and the resources. The average cost to launch a space ship is about $450 million per mission. The ships are used for quite a few things like to transport humans to the space station, to take satellites up and to launch machines to mine rock and take samples on different planets. Space ships have come a long way sense the beginning of NASA.

There is a variety of different types of satellites, low Earth orbit satellites are 160 km above Earth mainly meant for the military, these satellites can pick out tanks for miles away. These satellites usually have a short life span but luckily it is a very simple launch. Another thing NASA has done to go further in space and explore, is they built a massive satellite called Hubble. Hubble is the most advanced telescope NASA has made, launched in 1990 after being delayed for fixes but has now been flying through different solar systems capturing pictures where no man has been before. Hubble is still travelling through space discovering new planets and entering solar systems. Some satellites take pictures of Earth and then can tell meteorologists a prediction of the future weather such as hurricanes, Tsunamis and much more weather patterns.

 The National Aeronautics and Space Administration was started in 1958 by founder Dwight Eisenhower, he was a high rank in the military and was then taken over by President John F. Kennedy. The space station known as the ISS serves as a microgravity and space research laboratory in which crew members conduct experiments in biology, human biology,physics,astronomy, meteorology and other fields of science. The station is suited for the testing of spacecraft systems and equipment required for missions to the Moon and Mars. The ISS maintains orbit with an altitude of 330 to 435 km above earth. It completes a 15.54 orbits per day. NASA is also looking to advance their plains to make them low carbon jet plain. Apollo 11 was the first mission successful for humans to make it to the Moon, goal set by John F Kennedy. The computers in the control room of Houston Texas were not strong compared to the ones we have now in days, but were able to preform its task well. The computer was programmed to do more than recognize error conditions. A complete set of recovery programs were installed into the software, incase the computers failed. controll room

NASA will keep researching and finding new solar systems and planets in the future. NASA has taken technology to a new level from space ships, to satellites they are going to keep upgrading and advancing technology for the use of space.
